It was a bit of a slow start. I haven’t picked up the camera for a while because of extreme illness on behalf of my family, sorry, what’s that you say? I can’t hear you for the coughing but we rallied well for Friday and even went for a walk yesterday (yay us).

So here you go, the best from this week (Friday, really).

On the Friday we finally had a school holiday outing to a train museum…

The pre teen boy, was not amused.

It was all too much for Ivy who decided it would be a good time to get sick.

Lucky she had a willing snuggler.

Mal was in heaven. He roared and rocked so much, he scared all the other passengers away!

You are all amazing, wonderful people and I hope you all know that.

I am in awe of such a beautiful community and humbled by you.

It seems that you accept that ‘every circus has a sad clown’.

Dateline: Forster, NSW:
Well, here we are. It’s 9:30pm and we’re in a tent at a lakeside holiday camp called “Smuggler’s Cove”. Nine thermoactive bodies squeezed into a tent smaller than our loungeroom. And yes, it is raining.

Tiff is asleep, having been sedated, lest the case of mild claustraphobia that came on just now had a chance to get nasty. Lack of adequate connectivity to the interweb has not helped her nerves. My bad for mentioning that the hotel I stayed at for my last business trip had free wireless access. Here, we have an “Internet Kiosk”, which aparently consists of one PC in the back corner of the convenience store with a sign stuck to it.

“Out of order”.

I used to think 54mb wireless was painfully slow. For those who agree, how does 9.6kb GPRS on a mobile phone grab ya? Yep, not even 3G people. That’s why this post looks, feels and smells like it was hand whittled from a lump of driftwood.

I didn’t have to medicate Mrs DBT. I just used good ole psychology. I revealed with a florish that my phone had a small peephole window like access to the web for checking email. Adreneline surged as she pored over her inbox. Then the inevitable: “Go to my blog!”

“…er … That’s not really feasable on this connection …”

“DO IT! NOW!”

Ten minutes later the page finished loading. “s’ready” I say, rolling over to show her.

Gone. Out, like, as they say, a light.

Bugger. Now what?

So now my thumbs ache after 30 minutes of stabbing at this micro keyboard.

She stirrs. “What are you doing?”

“I is Blogging” I snap.

She grunts something about lack of qualifications and goes back to sleep.

Yes, the pain of thumb cramps is real. These aint no gen Y digits. Not by a long shot. But there is also a sense of misguided achievement.

I done blogged, old skool.

The 10pm noise curfew brings blissful silence to the crowded camp. The lights go out & I drift off. Dreams of someone carving the “m” down to an “n” on the sign at the camp gate.

Heh heh.

I wanted to take a photo of his face when I told him about Ivy.

Dave thought it would be bad form.

So, Monday; I think we both breathed a sigh of relief. The paed and I.

I think, for the second time in our history, I actually caught a glimpse, an insight, that he really does care about her.

My Ivy - girl.

She was unwell and he was gentle, so gentle with her. She rallied to his kindness.

It would be so easy to form a crush, right about now… her, not me, ok, me too.

We’re both suckers for nice, what can I say? (Remember this the next time I am bitching about him, won’t you, remind me often).

I think we finally have an understanding.

I think we might be on the same page.

It has been a busy week of doctor’s appointments here and I didn’t think it would be good karma to take my camera along with me. They might have thought me some kind of crazy woman.

Oh wait.

They already do.

The weekend was Mum’s 60th birthday bash, so the focus is on that one day, really.

Boys, girls and toddlers play here.

Who thought it would be fun to have teenagers and toddlers at the same time?

When every one had gone home there were a few games of Guess Who?

Noah kind of lost it though when it wasn’t who he thought it was…

Oh dear.

After that there was time for quiet reflection (and time out for cranky boys)…

and a butterfly to signal the change of season.

Seems this morning, after months and months of keeping good health, Noah has earned himself a sick day.

He has tonsilitis.

Awwwww. My poor little man.

(Just quietly - I think I’ve earned myself one too but shhh, don’t tell because Mummy’s aren’t allowed to get sick).

This can’t be good. It is cracking on to 9pm. Why are they still awake?

There has been no red cordial. There has been plenty of quiet time pre - bed. We have followed the bed time routine to the letter but for the second time they have not gone straight to sleep.

9:30pm.

C’mon, already.

Go. To. Sleep.

Suddenly it’s quiet.

Are they asleep?

Creeping, creeping, shhhh, we don’t want to wake them…

Noah… you’re wearing a hat and sitting up with your sister, in the same bed.
