The following is a list of all entries from the children category.

The tale of the ham steaks.

I’m no idiot.
When Lily excuses herself to go to the bathroom at dinnertime and she can barely get the words out for all of the casserole she has crammed down the side of her mouth, I know exactly what she is going to do.
You do too.
She is going to spew that ‘hours over a hot […]

Space face.

Imogen’s time for braces has come.
Yesterday she went down to the Children’s Hospital and had spacers placed on her back  molars. Ironically her molars are overcrowded, where, in the front, she has small and missing teeth, leaving huge spaces in between each one. It hurt her, alot. They had to prise her molars apart to wedge […]

We don’t need to pack a bag … BZZZT!

Dave writes:
We fails it (it is staying out of hospital).
Yes, Ivy has returned to hospital today. Just in time for the long weekend. So it’s a good thing we didn’t make any plans.  Besides, the weather is lousy.
A lingering infection, unresponsive to oral antibiotics. Also murmurs of a new immunosuppressant drug to try … if […]

Only in my house…

Just when you think that you can’t take anymore and that you are at breaking point, you walk down the hallway to discover this:

I love my kids!
They rock and they totally made  my day, made everything okay, if just for a small moment in time. The belly laugh was SO needed.

Mal turns 10

Malachy turned ten while we were in the hospital.
Malachy is globally developmentally delayed. He has autistic tendencies.
He handled his hospital party with the style and grace of a child with such issues. He totally ignored the party and played with a helicopter instead!
When he arrived on our doorstep he had two words. ‘Mum’ and ‘No’. […]

Go directly to hospital. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200.

By Dave.
(I have been given permission by management to set foot on the blog again for the sole purpose of the provision of information. In no way is any entertainment to be imparted.)
As of Friday last, Ivy has returned to hospital, following a timely Paed consult.
Symptoms: Cyanosis (lips, fingers), Shortness of breath, Rapid pulse.
 Diagnosis: Acquired […]

Questions & Fodder…

Noah and Immy were playing together and things were not going the way Noah thought they should…
Immy: “No, don’t do that Noah, that hurts Immy.”
Noah: ” No”
Immy: “I won’t play with you if you are going to do that”.
Noah: (increasingly angrier) “NO”!
Immy: “Oh well, I will just have to…”
Noah (interjecting and pointing to Immy) : […]

Faith restored or The tale of the tootsie rolls.

Last weekend was the anniversary of my Father’s death.
The honest truth is, I didn’t feel much.
Anger springs to mind.
Hurt, betrayal, yes but anger was definitely the predominant feeling for the day.
He treated me badly in life and in death, it is no different.
This could be the post where I tell you about my Evil Step […]

Balls and the weekend we grew some.

Overheard while preparing Italian Balls (spinach and fetta arancini) ;
‘These balls are sticky’. (snigger, snigger, snigger).
‘My, those are big balls. It says your balls should be no bigger than golf ball size’.
‘Those are my balls! Don’t touch my balls!’ (Big twins enter into a Beavis and Butthead type chuckle)…
Heh
Heh Heh
Heh he heh
You said balls!
BALLS!
Hehe heh […]

Thoughts…

I have been really pent up.
Hurting over the insinuations of Ivy’s colonoscopy reults.
Even though I have been cleared.
Last night it was all I could think about.
Here’s the thing,
I was abused.
Take that for what you will.
The foster boys, who are in my care, were abused.
I have spent my whole adult life running from parts of my childhood. […]
