About the little brown mouse.

ivyandmeaugweb

I’m just a simple 30 something year old woman with a not so simple life.

Nothing to look at; overweight, short, hormonal girl, living in a tiny country town in rural NSW.

Plain. Mousey.

I love to write though and it makes me feel beautiful.

I hate the telephone, love scrapbooking, love, love LOVE photography and I love my family.

Oh yeah and blogging.

My favourite food is ice cream.

Here’s the thing;

I have seven children.

Yes.

You heard me right.

Seven.

Before you tell me I’m crazy or a breeder or say something weird like; ‘You must have your hands full’ or Don’t you know what a television is?’, just keep reading.

Ok?

I didn’t plan it that way. I wanted four children, so still a big family, in this day and age but I can honestly say I never thought I would have that many kids.

The thing is, I cheated.

I had a set of twins first up, then a singleton two years later.

When she was two we took on fostering our two nephews. It was supposed to be temporary. Now we have permanent custody of them until they turn 18.

I’ve lost a baby when he was five days old in 2004.

That led us to try again and in 2005 we welcomed our second set of twins.

So, there you go.

Cheated.

I am married to my long suffering husband, who I love very much.

I was a midwife in another life but at the moment, I am practicing at being a SAHM.

I say practicing because this is the first time I haven’t worked in…well,  a long time.

This home is busy, challenging, noisy, chaotic and I love it… most of the time.

I love this new home. Gorgeous, colourful headers, it’s bright and beautiful, just like it’s author. I agree with Trish!

You know Tiff, I have seen your photo and I would never in a million years describe you as mousy or plain.. gosh woman You ARE Beautiful..

    cheers kim…

    Seven kids is huge.
I stopped at four. Boys. In five years. No twins. (Does that mean I didn’t cheat???)
My reason was different. I was after a girl.
Now our house rule is that we have female pets.
    It works pretty well too.

I win! I had 6 kids in 10 years .. 3 girls first, 3 boys next (clever eh?) then we took on two grandchildren when our youngest was 10… a girl and a year later a boy… so I have 8! I quite like the number 8. I don’t want 9… it’s an odd number and I like them EVEN!

  • Mary:

Well, I always wondered what the “little brown mouse” was, and finally clicked through today.
Silly me. I thought it was a little icon running around your posts, which somehow I had always missed. On the order of “Where’s Waldo?”…and if I spotted it I would win a prize.
Then I discover that it is a reference to the bloggarific author herself?!
You ARE beautiful! Those of us who have met you in person knew that as soon as we saw you, if not before. I have to think you said “mousey” only to make us laugh.

  • Dr.Cason (16 comments.):

7 wow. We’re discussing going for the fourth.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I read William’s story.

I look forward to getting to know you and your family….

Hi Tiff, Im trying to find your email address to ask you directly but can’t find it.
Could I ask you to email me. I would like to ask you for some information/websites etc I can pass on to a friend who just this week birthed & lost her little girl. Her story is similar to yours in someway. I thought you would be a good person to ask.

    Thanks Tiff

    Fiona

Nice to meet you Tiff. I’m looking forward to following your blog- I love the way you write. And what a story you have to tell. From what I’ve read, I think you’re pretty marvelous.

  • Liz (1 comments.):

I stumbled across your blog somehow (not sure how lol). I’ll come back and read some more when I have some more spare time. I can relate to quite a lot of what you’ve been through but haven’t had to find the courage to deal with a chronically ill child. Oh, and you didn’t cheat in how you came to raise seven children, at least not in my opinion.

For Chris H: in China the number 8 is considered very lucky.

Hi Tiff, Nice to know who the reference to the little brown mouse is. Top All family blog, eh. Sounds prestigious. Congrats if its appropriate. Such a gorgeous picture of you two. Now I know where Noah and the littlest miss (and the older girls) get those huge beautiful big blue eyes.
How are you feeling? Has the world righted itself any?
Personally, they took my pain medicine off the market because it interferes with the electrical stimulation of the heart. Never a dull moment!

  • Fi (1 comments.):

  • Megan:

    Hi Tiffany
Was led to your blog after reading the article in “Newcastle Child” .I was a little familiar with Ivy’s story after talking to a lady from the Red Cross one night at a Cancer Council event for which I volunteer for.
The reason she told me about your beautiful little girl is because I inquired how long i have to wait to donate blood again after having transfusions. She asked what type of transfusions I had and why ….I said that I was having IVg transfusions every week for 5 weeks of my pregnancy due to my husband and I having incompatible blood groups.I was having a huge amounts of IVg every week. When she told how much blood and how many blood donations it takes to make IVg,to say the least it blew me away at just the amount of donations needed.
Your blog is amazing whilst reading your stories they have made both LOL and cry and you are amazing women with beautiful children.
I can’t wait till I can start to give back to the Red Cross too.My O- blood is what they want and i think I can spare some for what they have done for me also.
    Megan xo
