Flat Stanley Day

Late last week Flat Stanley came to stay at our house. He had travelled from Chicago for a little R & R with us.

fs5web

He’d spent a large part of his time with us just hanging around the house,

dressed in,

well,

not much at all

but today was Flat Stanley Day and so we dressed him up and took him out for the day.

First, Noah took him for a ride in “Blue” with his new friend Ben 10

and AJ showed Stanley his ‘guns’ (heh heh)

the girls fed him breakfast;

Then he thought it would be good to have a photo with the local wildlife.

The local wildlife thought it would be good to rough Stanley up a bit and so then Stanley needed some first aid and some TMC (Tender Maddy Care)

The repair included a Wiggles band – aid.

Wiggles come from Australia, yes

and so a Wiggles band aid was appropriate bandage attire.

Soon Stanley felt much better and so we went sight seeing.

The Boonies are famous for not very much, it seems.

Loud fighting outside the pub, on a Saturday night, maybe

but the surrounding local areas are known worldwide for their beautiful vineyards and award winning wines.

We love it because of the beautiful countryside

and the gorgeous Hunter Valley Gardens.

We also seem to be famous for chocolate, cheese and corny signs:

We tried to find some kangaroos because we usually have plenty of those hopping around

and wombats and sometimes echidnas too

but they must have all been out to lunch

so we bought a book instead to send back to Chicago

After all of that, Flat Stanley was tired and hungry.

Before we left our tour

he purchased some more thongs

and scaled a gum tree.

For lunch we all treated Stanley to a meat pie with tomato sauce.

Sadly, Flat Stanley will be leaving us tomorrow, along with postcards, books, photos and memories from his trip to Australia and making his way back to Chicago.

See ya, Stanley!

We had a great day.
