Not even…
…a special occasion but yesterday was one of those perfect days.

It may have been one of those ‘ dog days of Summer’
and a three hour drive
and we may have spent the first hour on arrival looking for a parking spot for the big white bus
but we took a day trip to Manly beach
and we were so glad we did.
Sun, surf and our first taste of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream at the only parlor in Australia.
The line might have been out the door and halfway down the main street
and they may have run out of cones
but it was an excuse for conversation, laughter and togetherness.
Ivy built sand castles and Noah learnt how to use a boogie board
while the big kids swam in the ocean.
It might have been very crowded, a bubbling sea of humanity
but the kids found it new and interesting.
We wandered the Corso and were wowed by the street entertainment.
We stopped and had Korean BBQ on the trip home and
maybe it cost more than we would have liked to have spent
but the food was delicious and the kids loved the experience
and I didn’t even mind when they started to sing ‘Sweet Caroline’ for the twentieth time (not one word, Mum)
because I felt so happy.
Ever had one of those days?

we all deserve a perfect day now and then …fabbo images

That looks like a perfect day to me!
I’m sooo glad it was worth the epic drive…
Next time come & park at our place and get the ferry across. Seriously.
Looks like you had a deservedly good time.
It looks and sounds like a perfect day!
sounds like a wonderful day! So many people on the beach but I guess with B&J icecream parlor down there we may have to get down there for a visit too…..and a day at the beach (& to visit all those friends insisting on living in Sydney!)Did you say it was your birthday too? Happiness from me to you!
I love love love Manly beach! We visited when in Australia in ’02. And Ben & Jerry’s…yummy! What did you think?
It looks like fun!
looks like a great day was had by all!!!!!
fab pics!!!
Happy happy birthday Miss Tiff. I see some of the kids inherited your big beautiful blue eyes. So glad you had an idyllic day. We are buried under a foot of snow here. I am jealous. xxoo
Beautiful! words, pictures, and memories. I love those kind of days!
fabulous!
I wanna go to the beach now!
Happy Late Birthday you Capricorn! Mine was on January 7th. That looks like a fun birthday – yum for the ice cream. Thanks for sharing the sweet pics.
I’ve read and heard about Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. How does it compare to our wonderful Australian ice cream? Is it really worth waiting in line for? What would be the closest Australian equivalent brand? The beach looks like fun, Noah on the boogie board is my favourite picture.
Here in Adelaide we’re having day 4 of 40* heat….not so much fun.
Looks like a perfect day out in Oz. Hot, sweaty, expensive. Love it anyway.
Sounds and looks perfect. Glad you guys spoiled yourselves for a day
Looks and sounds like it was a day well worth the trip! Looks much the same as in the days of yore when you were kids. Brings back so many memoties! And better yet, what better way to bring back memories for you than to hear the kids singing “Sweet Caroline” (even if it was only to the “Glee” version). LOL. xoxo
I have very fond memories of Neil Diamond on in your house (and your mom’s car) when we were growing up – lots of singing and dancing. Yes, I did end up buying most of his CDs and consider it a great investment! Sounds like you had a great day!
Great to see you all having such a wonderful day. xxx
Bliss! I adore Ben & Jerry’s but don’t think I can face the queues. Maybe I might have to take a midafternoon, midweek drive over to Manly to feed my need. Right now just trying to survive jetlag and being back after a heavenly month on holiday.
Oh, what a gorgeous Australian beach day. I feel as if I am there! Lovely photo journalism!
Sounds like you all had a perfect day! How was Ben and Jerrys?
My kids call them “unspecial day special!” Glad you had one. I am praying for you and your family. I have been absent from reading your blog for a while, but I never quit praying. God bless you and yours.
