Some things are confusing.
Like
yesterday, when the paed said that Ivy’s latest ear swab showed Ciproxin resistant pseudomonas
and then prescribed another month of Ciproxin
after I told him that I didn’t like giving Ivy that antibiotic
after he told me that the Ciproxin had wiped out all of the gut flora in Ivy’s body.
He prescribed it after he told me that her bilirubin levels were elevated but that he was not concerned because there was no enlargement of her liver…yet
and after he weighed her and found she had lost a kilo.
His thoughts were that it was a risk versus benefit situation and while ever Ivy was out of the hospital, it was a good thing
and so
even though I don’t feel good about any of his findings
or the fact that Ivy has no appetite
or that I am wiping out all of Ivy’s defence system,
well,
what is left of it anyway,
I am going to give her the Ciproxin.
For another month.
Like I said,
some things are confusing.
