The way of things.

“What was silent in the father speaks in the son and often found in the son, the unveiled secret of the father.” -  Friedrich Nietzsche.

fatherandson1web

When William died a piece of David died.

That’s the absolute truth.

He was devastated to have lost his first born son.

He loved his girls unconditionally but he grieved the chance to be a father to his boy.

Then one day,

there was Noah

and David learnt to smile again.

This week’s theme at I heart faces is all about the boys.

The father/son bond is so very different from the father/daughter bond. Something uniquely male. Something we women often don’t have with our daughters until the day our first girl has her first baby. It’s an amazing thing. I’m so glad you two have Noah in your life.

This is a great shot, and even more beautiful with the story behind it.

Absolutely beautiful, as is your story. My husband and I have lost three children – most recently twin daughters in February, and it’s true that you never get over a loss. I know personally, I mourn each day without having them in my life, but you do find great joy in those who survive them.

A beautiful picture – it touched my soul.

This is such a sweet picture. You can see how much Noah loves his Dad too. How is Ivey doing? Give her sweet hugs and kisses for me please.

This is an amazing and very touching story. I loved the laughter and smile on your son’s face, he made me smile before I even ready the story beneath. Then he almost made me cry. Thanks for posting this. Puts a new perspective on the father/son bond.
