The bone scan and Gallium scan came back positive for deep infection and so the plan for PICC placement was made for today.

Twenty two hours of Nil by Mouth later and Ivy was taken to surgery.

There were a few tense moments while the collective doctors discussed a central line, should the PICC fail her little, overused veins.

The PICC went in like a dream though and tonight, her tummy is full of jelly and lactose free milk and she is sleeping soundly next to me as I type.

 I feel so very old and tired

but I wanted you to know that all is right with our world.
