but we share in this house.

When you have a large family, you must encourage sharing almost every single day.

Ivy and Noah are coming to terms with having to share most things and somedays are better than others.

Often I am heard saying… “In this house we share.”

On Saturday we made a rare outing to the shops and were having our lunch. I was having a thickshake (one of my favourite things) and the kids had a bottle of water.

Noah is also a milkshake fiend and when he saw that I had one, started angling for a sip.

“No,” I said. “It’s Mummy’s”.

His little bottom lip pouched out and tears welled in his eyes and then he retorted,

“but we share in this house”.

Of course, he called me on it and so I gave him some, which ended up being all.

Later that afternoon,  Noah was sucking on his drinkbottle and Immy asked if she could have a sip of his water.

“No,” he replied still with the bottle in his mouth.

“but we share in this house”. Immy cried.

Without skipping a beat the boy responded, “This is not a house. It’s a shopping centre”

and with that, he finished off his drink.

Somehow I think he missed the point.
