Weekly Winners.

weekly_winners.gif

It’s Sunday again.

Can you believe it?

Weekly Winners was created by Lotus.

You can see all of the wonderful participants over at her blog.

I didn’t take alot of photos this week and what I did take were nothing to write home about. You see, the beauty of doing a photography course is the steep learning curve and the fact that you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, in trying new things, like pushing your dial to “M” and having to dial up iso and shutter speed and f. stop. The bad thing about doing a photography course is that because you are out of your comfort zone, your photos are awful. I think I prefer “P” mode and just playing with iso myself. I certainly lack confidence having to think the f. stop out but we live and we learn, right?

Anyway, on with the show…

evidence1.jpg

More evidence of boys and girls co existing.

Noah was quite upset that Ivy had put the flowery hat on his Thomas. He carried on a treat.

“No, Ivy! Thomas doesn’t wear a pretty hat!”

Ivy would  whisk the hat off the funnel and dance away. As soon as Noah wasn’t looking, it was back on. When I asked her why Thomas had a hat on, her reply was – “So he doesn’t get sunburnt”.

Of course.

I love having a husband who works for Canon. He was able to borrow a fixed lens with a 1.2 f stop

All of these photos were taken at night (hence all the sleeping people) with nothing but a bedside lamp for lighting. No flash.

Amazing.

Wedded bliss.

sleep.jpg

Tucked in for the night…well, at least until 11pm, when she makes her nightly trek into my bed.

sleeping.jpg

This is a terrible photo but I love the way they sleep. She is using his tummy for a pillow and he has his legs and arms always touching her.

The big girls used to be the same, in their early twin years.

Heart, hands and stomach.

This morning, we were pretending to be policemen.

This is their “Starsky & Hutch” look.

Move along, nothing to see.

His future’s so bright…

Last night we went to a) my first 40th and b) my first ever cocktail party.

This is a self portrait of me with the birthday girl, Liz.

    I love Starsky and Hutch.

Where is a picture of the frock?? Hmmm?

    I’ve got nothing.

  • river:

These are great, you need to stop doubting your skills.

They are still beautiful tiff, and that is because you have such a gorgeous eye..once you get the hang of using the new settings you will amaze yourself with just how easy it was after all… I really look forward to seeing what you come up with.. xoxoxoxox

  • Kelley (239 comments.):

Love the pure happiness in the last shot.

  • Taz (22 comments.):

    beautiful

  • Kat (90 comments.):

    Aww, Tiff! Lovely.

I’m starting to think your house is as full of trains as mine is. At least I’m sure we have the one on the left, where you push down the engineer to make it go.

So nice to see pics of your husband, those were great. And the sleeping twins… just unbeleivably cute. I love your rings on the cookbook, too!

  • Jeanette (275 comments.):

Those photos with the 1.2 are incredible!! I want one!
My favourite setting is A – playing with the ISO and f-stop… I haven’t mastered M yet. I only use M when I have loads of time on my hands.

  • katef (193 comments.):

just gorgeous… I LOVE the photos of your man asleep.. they are stunning!!

  • Krista (48 comments.):

Gah, I am so jealous of you! A photography course AND a 1.2 lens??? I had one once upon a time… but I lost it when I left my camera in the back of a taxi upon arriving in Costa Rica. Of course right at the beginning of a 4 month stay.
Now I would love to have one that fit on my Nikon! (old one was a non-digital Canon)

  • Veronica (623 comments.):

So, fess up, what did you end up wearing?

Love the photos with the sunnies.

  • Marylin (120 comments.):

Gorgeous pics – LOVE the shot of Ivy and Noah sleeping together!

I tried to learn how to use the manual mode, but like you I ended up with a lot of pics that are rubbish – although I bet yours are still better than mine!

Thing is, when you’re photographing kids, there’s not really much time to fiddle around with the camera is there?

  • Jientje (80 comments.):

They’re great, ALL of them! I wonder what you’ll come up with once you do get the hang of all the settings and stuff?

  • Secret Mom Thoughts (43 comments.):

Love the sleeping shots. The whole set is great.

  • Tara R. (19 comments.):

These are great! I love the sleeping shots.

  • cady (4 comments.):

i love the sleeping pictures and the last starsky and hutch shot. you took some great ones!

  • Holly (100 comments.):

Don’t doubt your skills Tiff – it is your eye that makes your photos fantastic – not the camera!

  • Secret Agent Mama (80 comments.):

I would abuse my hubby so much if he worked for Canon. “Can I borrow this now?” “How about this now?” “Today I want THIS!”

    LOL

Great work, honey. I love your stuff always. You could shoot a pile of dung and it would be FAB!

  • Aw, that “future’s so bright” shot is adorable! Love it! (Have a sunglasses shot in my winners this week as well…)

  • Elaine (8 comments.):

Love the shot of your man’s hand, very cool. And the “Starsky & Hutch” look is too cool!

p.s. Thomas would NOT be allowed to wear that hat around here either! HA!

  • merrymishaps (48 comments.):

Love the sleeping shots, and your little “Starsky & Hutch” team is too cute!

  • Smoochiefrog (14 comments.):

Love that first one! I think Thomas looks great with the sunvisor. :)

  • Maggie's Mind (62 comments.):

Always such beautiful shots. I love the sleeping ones – just so peaceful.

  • Andrea (11 comments.):

Those are gorgeous…again! :) Love the policeman outfits…hee hee :)

  • Xbox4NappyRash (314 comments.):

    Class. As always.

  • Spoiled Mommy (4 comments.):

Hey!! My mother works at Canon too!!
Im trying to build my Canon collection…and I am also getting ready to enroll in a photography class!!
I love your pictures….really good work!
The Thomas one made me chuckle!

  • Stacey~ComfyMom (7 comments.):

I love the sleeping photos & Thomas with his sun hat! I’m looking around for a photography course to take because anytime I take the camera off the presets I end up with blurry blown out photos.

You asked about the dino nuggets. Tyson sells chicken nuggets in the shape of dinosaurs. I get big bags of them for the kids’ home lunches.

  • Barbara (156 comments.):

I love the picture of the sleeping babes – so, so lovely. But your self portrait – absolutely amazing! You are lovely and look so much like the girls – I had no idea!

  • Danifred (12 comments.):

Absolutely beautiful. I especially love the ones of everyone sleeping. Just amazing!

  • Karen of Sillymonkeez (19 comments.):

What great shots! I love the sleeping ones and the one of the hand with the wedding band especially.

  • Hyphen Mama (316 comments.):

I love LOVE LOVE the sleeping twins. I want a twin! I want to sleep intertwined with another soul who doesn’t care if I use their tummy for a pillow. Your babies are so gorgeous. I see why you want to capture their every moment.

  • Karen MEG (5 comments.):

tiff, what wonderful shots, from the Thomas with the hat (adorable) and the sleeping shots, just gorgeous.

My fave is the last though… you girls look like you’re having such a ball … fantastic!

  • fancy feet (103 comments.):

I love sleeping children. I can’t help but feel peaceful.

I love the hat/Thomas the train story. Of course it’s to protect him from the sun. :)
