Bullet point.

* Ivy has a stubborn bilateral  middle ear infection.

* Bet you didn’t see that coming.

* So, in a weird twist of fate, the paed appointment that I was so scared to cancel, has been reopened by the good doctor.

* It’s kind of weird finding yourself in a tizz because the sicky kid, who hasn’t been acutely unwell for months, suddenly is.

*All of this in 45 degree heat.

* No I’m not kidding.

* I am trying hard to remember why I moved to rural NSW, right about now.

* I love Panadol with a Neurofen chaser.

* For the girl, not for me.

* For me, there is chocolate, lots of chocolate.

* I also love air conditioning.

* I have to leave my chocolate and airconditioning behind in a minute

* so I can take some ear swabs into pathology.

* I’m not sure if I can do it.

* Procrastination can be a good thing.

* Sometimes it can increase your serotonin levels

* and keep you cooler for longer.

* That’s not fact.

* I made it up but it sounds good, right?

* I just learned that you can keep ear swabs in the fridge for 12 hours and they’ll still be okay.

* Do you think it might be cooler then?

* Me either.

    Oh christ, is it 45 there? You must be ready to die!

    45!!! Ack!!! That is insane… Stupid farking weather. it was HOT yesterday and today I have a jumper on,,,,

  • Amy:

    Yeah, hot one today. Was hot last night in our stupid non-airconditioned townhouse with no insulation too :(
    The swabs’ll keep. The chocolate won’t – you can’t let chocolate be left to go bad/melt in this heat.

  • river:

    Tuesday got to 43.4 here, I sat around after work with the fan on me and a wet t-shirt on. Yesterday was a bit better, but still uncomfortable as I also have no airconditioning or insulation, but the fan soldiered on, today is beautiful. Just beautiful. But I ate ALL of my chocolate anyway, just in case there’s another hot one, didn’t want to take chances with it melting.
    Sorry to hear about Ivy’s ear infection, hope she is feeling better soon. It’s been a while since she’s had one isn’t it?

    Aww poor Ivy, and in this heat! It’s times like this I’m glad I live in Scotland!

    ((hugs))… well, maybe not in that heat… *sends you an industrial-strength fan* ;)

    Hot here too but that’s all year round. dying for a little chilliness.

    One day at a time, Tiff. 45 Celsius? That’s like 90 something, right? HOLY CRAP!! I just opened another tab and googled 45 celsius. 113 degrees fahrenheit. Jeez. That’s like Las Vegas in the summer!!!

  • badness jones (70 comments.):

    45 C? That sounds bad, but right now it’s MINUS 25 C here, and I think I might be tempted to trade!

  • Suzie (65 comments.):

    Just dont confuse the ear swabs with the chocolates

    Sounds nice and snug….

    45??!! I hope Ivy feels better soon and you…I hope you enjoy some of that chocolate and then your air conditioning.

    I responded to your comment earlier but I don’t know if you check back for that sort of thing and, anyway, what I said was that you are an amazing mum. I am blown away by all that you do and who you are. You are a force to be reckoned with.

  • Jeanette (275 comments.):

    I really hope that the infection disappears quickly!

  • Gemisht (78 comments.):

    It was about 42 at work yesterday. Then the southerly came through – ahhhhh bliss. Hope you got some of that too cause the temp here dropped about 10-15 degrees in 5 minutes.

    Hope Ivy is OK and that you get the infection knocked on the head. And as for the chocolate, its a vegetable and you need to eat lots of fruits and vegetables at a time like this to keep your strength up, so go for it :)

    It was about the same here yesterday, Tiff.

    Thank God it’s a bit cooler today!
    Plus that we spent it at the pools, that helped.

    Except I sat in the sun to warm up and got burnt. d. u. m. b.

    Hope Ivy’s feeling a bit better today. :)

    So I’m a stupid Amerikan who was brought up on Fahrenheit temperature, so I did the conversion in my head (multiply by 2, add 30) and thought HOLY HELL 120 F. I thought NO WAY was that correct so I used a real conversion chart…. 113 F… not much better. HOLY HELL– no pun intended — that’s hot!! Today at my house is 4 C. Snow on the ground. I’ll send you some…. but I know that won’t help.

    Sorry to hear about Ivy’s ear bug!

    you write with such poise and beauty – I find your words about William so uplifting, full of a mothers love and a love lost but never dimished – your devotion shines thru like the morning sun reflexting on foil – clear and brilliant – le xoxoxo

    Hmmm, we had it at -30C the other day. MINUS 30 C. I think I like that better than +45C. I hate the heat. And someone can say all they want that ‘it’s a dry heat’, but it’s still freakin’ HOT!
