Preschool preparation.
Noah and Ivy have their pre school orientation day next Wednesday.
There are a great many rules that I had, either, forgotten or have changed since Lily went to kindy.
One of which is no backpacks. At least none with zippers, hooks or ties.
The aim is to teach the children independence and so we were asked to provide them with a bag that was easy to open and big enough to take home all of their… creations
and a fruit bag was needed too.
I looked around and found some gorgeous designs but just could not justify paying $30 each for a drawstring bag.
So I made some
and the fruit bags
and I’m quite proud of myself so I thought I’d show you my pre school preparation, you know, just for something completely different.

And, on top of that, she’s talented.
Well aren’t you the handy dandy!
They are very cute.
Love the letters.
Those are great! I think they are cuter than the $30 ones, and no one will have bags like Noah and Ivy.
I love the smily face pirate fabric for Noah’s fruit bag. What is a fruit bag?
Hello, is there anything you don’t do well?
Do you have a pattern for those bags? They are awesome!!!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Those bags are adorable! What a great idea!
Those are just great.
OMG
You should be so proud. I am. Of you.
BTW I have never heard of a preschool saying that. But I get it.
They are gorgeous. Is there anything you can’t do? Aside from pee standing up?
They are gorgeous!! Although, you know what’s going to happen now? The other Mums will want you to make one for their children too
I agree, I like your bags better than the $30 ones. You are very talented.
Ooooh, they look wonderful!
they are fabulous Tiff -you could sell those and make a $$ on Etsy
These are seriously cute!
When they get to ‘big school’, then you can convert them to library bags.
Look out Etsy, here comes Tiff!!!
I agree!!! They are cute, and very well made!
just beautiful you clever mummy you – I love them !
Those are adorable! I’m so excited that the twins are getting ready for preschool, that is monumental.
Does the school have a dress code or uniforms? We were surprised to hear that at Caden’s preschool, the kids could not wear pants with buttons, snaps or zippers. So I can understand perfectly about the bookbags, too.
What’s a fruit bag?
It looks great
Oh wow, what stunning bags!!!
Are they excited?
I’m constantly amazed by the Oz school rules – no zips – please, I think that’s ridiculous!! But anyhoo, it’s resulted in your kids getting the most beautiful bags!!
& you think my mermaid tail was impressive?
You have to make 2 of everything!
MiniMe’s school was the same way, except that since we taught her zippers, they were okay. It’s absolutely not silly! YOU try zipping 15 backpacks just twice a day (when you know that’s way underestimating!).
Do the twins like them?
They’re great Tiff! Can ya make one for me?
Thank you for taking the time to come over and to honor preemie awareness. there were a handful on down syndrome last month and a few on adoption but nothing on preemies and the month is half over. I am sure it is because the editor is not liking me at all. It is an important cause. Just like downs.
Wowza, girl! Those look awesome!!!!! You are so dang creative…did you have a pattern, or make your own? I LOVE them
Those bags are AWESOME! Of course, I have no idea what a fruit bag is, but I’m assuming it’s for lunch, snack, daily FRUIT, or some other such thing. But darn it, they sure are adorable. You can make mine with a lower case H, thank you.
Oh, I love these!! All that print and color….gorgeous!!
The bags are lovely Tiff. I bet Noah and Ivy are starting to get excited. Are you going to start using the fruit bags right away to get them used to taking their fruit out and eating it? I did that with school bags and lunchboxes. Once or twice a week, I’d pack a lunch, put it in the school bag and the kids would eat from the lunch box. That way I was sure they knew how to get the lunchbox open and how to screw the cap back on to the drink bottle.
I want one…along with a purple cape and and and…….
they are gorgeous Tiff
How clever are you!?
Awesome.
Funny, Boo was at kinder only a few years ago and we didn’t have those kind of rules.
What is a fruit bag? Must be an Australian thing.
I LOVE the drawstring bags you made! I love sewing things like that, but mine never come out as cute as yours did. Good Job!
they look great!!
You clever girl
Great bags, and I agree whip up a few and make some pocket money!
I can’t believe they have a no zips rule! All the kids in Boo’s group of 2-3 year olds at daycare manage the zips on their backpacks quite independently???
I’m getting kind of sick of being the untalented friend.
Can I have one of those? In nice, adult-ish fabric? Please?
I agree with the others- you could SO sell those. Is there anything you can’t do?
Hey, can you make those things that the kids sit on in trolleys? They sell for like $1000 at the markets. Ok, well, maybe not $1000, but you get the idea.
My gosh you are talented! The rest of the class is just going to be super jealous. I can’t believe they are heading off to preschool – WOW!!
I seriously hope you are selling those bags, because they are AWESOME. I love the last one best. I could see you marketing these bags for all kids, but I could really see them being great for special needs kids. NICE.
Oh my word, these are cute! Quite the domestic diva, you!
