Just so you know…

…my babies are turning three this week, on Sunday.

Three!

It only seems like yesterday that I was waiting for their arrival.

Now I am listening to them role play with two monster trucks…

First monster truck to second monster truck;

“Why, yes, you’re right, I am very beautiful”.

Second MT to first MT:

“No you’re not, you’re purple”.

+++

After the post about my worry and lack of sleep, the paed called.

Without me calling him.

Just to check in.

Weird, huh?

Very out of character.

Dave and I can’t understand why he called (but are glad he did).

There are a few theories floating around.

Still, it was strange.

I wrote him an email (as per his request) asking him all the questions I had and sent it last Thursday.

Our appointment is tomorrow.

+++

It was decided that the girls would go out to work this weekend just gone and they will go out again the weekend before the farewell.

So far they’ve earned, for themselves, forty dollars each.

At the moment they are undecided as to whether they will have their hair done by the hairdresser or their mother.

They are thinking they might get the hairdresser to curl their hair and I can do the rest.

Maybe.

+++

I think I might just cancel Christmas this year. It’s all too hard, really.

So there you go.

Now you know.

Sounds like the hairdresser thing might work out okay for you…I find that when my kids have to work for money, they are much less likely to blow it on random stuff. Having the hairdresser do part and you do part sounds like a good plan, too.

I cannot imagine ever having this problem…Tess will only wear her hair in a braid, a single braid down her back, no pony tails, no more than one braid. No dresses, no pink or purple, nothing too girly. Except she loves shoes. Not girly shoes, of course, but she loves shopping for shoes with me.

I bet your babies are so excited about turning 3 :-)

I hope the paed gives you all the answers you need tomorrow, and that they will be answers to give you some relief from your understandable worries.

Just keep reminding the girls on all the other things they could have if they don’t spend their hard earned dosh on the hairdressers!!!

    Happy birthday “babies”!

  • Tracey:

    Interesting…verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

Wow, the last 12 months have flown!

So pleased to hear that he called you. Goodness knows you need to get him to push for specialists sooner rather than later.

Hmmm, the girls might decide to keep the money for more important things, seeing as how you can do hair very nicely too.

The best Christmas I ever had was the year we ordered chicken and salads from the local chicken shop and just lounged around in our pjs.

Perhaps that sounds like a plan for you babe?

  • Amy:

Too cute about the monster trucks!
    So glad he called.
The girls will be beautiful regardless of what they choose to do.
    You can’t!

toes, fingers, legs, eyes and everything else crossed for good weather on Sunday – I owe you big time for this so I am SURE the weather won’t let either of us down!
Sounds like your big girls are making careful decisions – that has to count for something yeah?
Hope that pead of yours called because he finally has a boot up his butt to get some stuff done and answered!

Aww, I’m hurt. Purple is SO pretty! It’s my favorite color! :-)

Oooh and three. THREE. You have older ones, so I know you’ve already learned that 3 is much, much worse than 2. I feel for you. TWO three year olds – at the same time! Ouch! Honestly, had Mikaela turned three prior to me getting pregnant with Parker, she would most definitely be an only child. Just sayin’.

Things that make ya go hmmmm. Has the paed discovered your blog? Ya have to wonder……….

Sounds like the girls are having second thoughts about spending ALL that hard earned cash on something so frivolous as a hairdresser. A lesson well learned now, at this age. And perhaps, as a bonus, there will be a more appreciative reaction to any and everything you do for them – not that they aren’t necessarily appreciative – but when they start understanding all the connections between work, earning money and how quickly it is spent, I think they will appreciate everything even more. Bonus!

I’m hoping you find your Christmas spirit again. I’m sure the kids’ excitement as Christmas gets closer will give you a boost.

WOOT for the girls and the hairdresser!! You are the best. You really are. And the Happiest of Birthdays to Noah and Ivy. They are growing up so fast.

  • Suzie (65 comments.):

    Happy birthday!

That’s good the doctor called. I wonder why. I’m always so curious when someone does something nice and unexpected like that. Sometimes I’m a bit paranoid about it. I start thinking why are they suddenly so nice? Do they feel guilty about something?

I’m with you on Christmas–well, Chanukah in our case. I’d like to just skip it–especially the gift exchange part.

  • HennHouse (Karin) (78 comments.):

    “No you’re not, you’re purple.”

    Too cute!

Oh, where does time go? Really. I want some of the days back. Even the hard days. To hold them before they are “too grown up” for it. To tickle them before it isn’t “cool,” and to stare at them before they learned to think I was from another planet.

But hey, at least the monster truck is beautiful AND purple.

  • Xbox4NappyRash (314 comments.):

I bet Noah was the one claiming beauty!

THREE! Farewell babies, hello little boy and little girl!

I LOVE how the girls are earning money and now may or may NOT spend it so quickly on having their hair done. Perfect lesson in life. It’s HARD to make all that money… 2 days on 2 different weekends. Then to just give it away in an hour or so seems frivolous.

I hope the proactive phone call from the paed is a sign that things will progress nicely!

You can’t cancel Christmas… I’m dying to know how Aussies celebrate Christmas in the summertime. Yes, I’m entertained by the little things, but non-winter Christmas just boggles my mind. =)

  • Momisodes (26 comments.):

Aww, 3 already?! Time really flies. I hope they have a wonderful birthday.

I’m glad to hear the doctor called you. Hope the appointment goes well.

I’d like to also cancel Christmas. Perhaps we can start a support group.

  • frogpondsrock (275 comments.):

hehehehehehe I love the fact that now they have their own money the hairdresser isn’t such a big deal.. yay for your girls and yay for you xxx

  • Fe (60 comments.):

Makes me glad my (nearly) 12 year old is a BOY. I’m trying to get him to have a haircut before his Year 6 farewell do. No go.

Happy Birthday to the beatiful Noah and Ivy! Three is …. well….. further away from two!

    xoxo

Three?????!!!??? How in the world did that happen? Wish the little munchkins Happy birthday for me :)

Best of luck on the possible Christmas boycott. I threatened it. Twice. There was a mutiny. It was ugly. I lost. ;)
