I was feeling cheeky yesterday, (what can I say, being cooped up in a small room for five days can do that to even the best of the goody two shoes), so when the paediatrician told me he had two caesareans to attend but he should be in by 10 to discharge, I said,
“So, I’ll see you at four”.
He seemed unimpressed when all of the lackey doctors fell about laughing and I knew I would pay for it the next day.
We didn’t get discharge until 2.
The ENT doctor came in earlier and advised that she stay away from all social activities for five days.
When I told him she had none, that if we went to the supermarket, she came home with pneumonia, his response was;
“Well, that won’t happen anymore, I’ve cured her”.
Ahhh, yes.
He has a very healthy ego.
I’m sure he said the exact same thing the last time he operated on her.
but
in a bold move of unnerving positivity, I put both Noah and Ivy’s name down for preschool next year.
Next week Ivy goes in for her first infusion of IVIG
and so my plan for normality begins.

Wonderful news babe, I love hearing the positive note to your voice.
And you still have your sense of humour. Girl, you ARE AWESOME.
Love ya!
Welcome home! I”m so glad all went well. We’re still praying for you!
Prayers coming your way from here as well!
Glad to hear you are home and feeling positive about things.
Keep us posted and enjoy your family time!
How did the rest of the family fair without you for the week?
On my knees. Every night. for Ivy.
There are very few things that can make me happier at this point in time.
Wonderful to hear.
I’m so glad you’re at home! What fabulous news!! That happened so fast!
It can only mean good things
Great news honey!! Fingers crossed the doc *has* cured her.
(((hugs)))
Yay for being home!! I do hope he is right this time around.
LOL at Dr Crawler! “I’ve cured her?” That sounds like a God complex. Glad you’re home, can’t wait to see WW!
Home again!! That’s so wonderful!! I’m glad you were discharged…even if it was at 2…at least it wasn’t 4
Best wishes to a speedy recovery, and a wonderful response to the IVIG!
“So, I’ll see you at four”. Hah! That’ll teach him. I’m glad you said that to him actually, it made me laugh out loud and reading it made me remember the cheeky/sarcastic stuff I come out with to my supervisor occasionally. She deserves it too.
Hooray for normality and preschool. I’m hoping SO hard that it all happens for all of you from now on.
Hugs all round from me.
Love your ways, Tiff!
I am hoping that Mr God Complex has his complex for a good reason.
Great work, Ivy girl. Enjoy preschool!
Her name is down, you can always change it later if you need to (but you won’t).
And healthy ego indeed!
((Hugs))
Welcome home.
Onwards and upwards.
There are many a thing that makes me laugh in this post…. 11am or 4 pm… I found that quite amusing whether the doc did or not. And HELLO.. you were RIGHT were you not? And then “I have cured her”……. were you tempted to burst into spontaneous laughter right then and there? I would have told him… “I too wish that you were God so that you could heal my daughter but seeing as how you aren’t… I will settle for her feeling better for a while!”…. LOL
Still sending prayers and hoping that everything is calm for a bit!
Hugs!
Amber
I’m so sorry I missed all this, we’re on vacation and I get the stink-eye from my husband every time I log on to this laptop — but GOD, you, I’m so sorry for what you’re going through and so worried and, well… I’m just glad to read this “normal” sounding post, I can’t thank you enough for it. Be well and safe and… well.
Hmm.. Yeah probably wouldn’t have said I have cured her. Sets you up. We’re not God no matter how hard we try. To think so is a crushing disappointment.
How is she feeling now? Love the weekly winners particularly of the little dolls. Teeny and descriptive.
Well here’s to hoping that the doctor has a super ego for good reason! My thoughts and prayers are with y’all, honey.
Ah, yes… the ego. I believe it’s a specialist prerequisite of some sort
So glad you’re back home!
