The IVIG poster girl.

ivyowldress.jpg

You know what makes me crazy?

Aside from driving for two and a bit hours like a mad woman to the hospital, so we can sit and wait for an hour and a bit for our half hour slot?

It’s a doctor who doesn’t know what we have been through and who looks the pred child up and down and utters the most hated of statements to any parent of a chronically ill child…

“Well, she looks good to me”.

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Of course she looks well, I just spent the last week pumping her full of anything that remotely indicated it might stave off the nasty bugs so we could make our way down to see you.

I worked hard, darn it, to get her here.

That’s why I don’t look so hot!

Why do doctors do that?

Why do they make throw away statements like that?

Especially when they must know we wouldn’t be there if everything were hunky dory.

Is it supposed to lift us up?

Because it doesn’t.

Okay, ranty rant over.

We think the  Ivy – girl is going to get her IVIG!

We just have to wait for some bloods to come back and the immunologist has to go to the board and present Ivy’s case but Ivy is a good candidate and by Friday we should know for sure.

From what we understand, all that is just a formality. The doctor will be pushing for her to have the IVIG, starting as soon as possible.

So there you go.

There is more information and some negatives but I’m just going to give you the good tonight

because I’m feeling positive and it’s been almost five weeks since our last admission and..and..and

YIPPEE!!!!!!

Okay?

    Okay!
Everything crossed for good news on Friday.
They are good positives – you are a star for finding them and getting you and your girl to where you are now.

Woo-hoo. How excellent to have a doctor who is ‘pushing’ for something good and helpful for Ivy-girl.
BTW, you are to be congratulated – she did look marvellous yesterday. All thanks to your monumentous efforts and loving support of her. xx

I am typing this with my long arms on so my lurgy won’t jinx you guys – ’tis a good thing that he was able to give that greeting, but a bugger that he didn’t think it through a little.

    Yay to five weeks.

  • Vanessa:

Five weeks is fantastic. Fingers and toes crossed!!!

  • Sadie (91 comments.):

Such a big day!!! That’s so wonderful on the IVIG!!! I’ll be watching for the post and hoping for the answers you want!!!

And the best of all is the FIVE WEEKS!! Amazing!!! Hooray!

  • Childlife (3 comments.):

Hooray for the five-week run! Crossing all my fingers and toes for five more :D

I have NO idea why doctors feel compelled to say such things, Tiff — I really don’t. Always makes me want to scream.

I’m not generally a country music fan, but have you ever heard Bill Engvall’s song Here’s Your Sign? I put doctors that say things like that in this category. Makes me feel much better :)

Hope to hear good IVIG news soon!

  • Jenn (3 comments.):

    Been there.

    Done that.

    Numerous times.

Hugs and so much more to you, from across the miles.

  • river:

Childlife–Here’s Your Sign is a song too? I have the Blue Collar Comedy Tour on tape, it features Bill Engvall doing a Here’s Your Sign skit along with Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy, it’s hilarious. I clicked on the link which took me to You-tube, which category does it come under? Would it be Comedy? Music? Entertainment?

Sorry to hijack your comments here Tiff. That’s really great news about Ivy, the IVIG and the five weeks good luck run. I hope this works really well for her and she gets much better, well enough to stay out of hospitals and start at pre-school and all those other wonderful things that 2-3 year olds do. Hugs and kisses.

Good luck! Am crossing everything here for you.

And damn doctors. I always want to beat them when they say things like that.

  • Jayne (182 comments.):

I have crossed every movable body part for you – and some I shouldn’t have tried to move…
5 weeks is a ripper record, well done to your hard work, Tiff ;)

here from ICLW, I am addicted to your blog now. I just spent half an hour reading all the headers at the top, what an increadible journey you have been on. I will have to read more and catch up, cause I do not know what IVIG is. But I am praying for your little Ivy, who is unbelievably cute. I will be be back for sure!

  • Amber Schmidt (44 comments.):

I so feel you on the “she looks good” comment… I mean really what does that accomplish. We know that Ky is NOT good.. so why does “looking” have anything to do with it? Its the plight of sick kids. Glad to hear the IVIG may be in order!!!

    Huge hugs!
