When you live in the boonies…

…and you need to have your daughter seen by an endocrinologist, expect that you will wait a very, very long time.

What is your best bet, for a waiting time, my friends?

Six weeks?

No.

Try six months!

That’s right, six months, that will see us just about up to Ivy and Noah’s 3rd birthday

in November.

The paed’s idea that we see this new doctor before we see him next, at the end of May, is one of pure fantasy. In fact, I think I heard the endo’s receptionist fall to the floor in a fit of hysterical giggles, when it was mentioned.

David was told, in no uncertain terms, that we could not actually make an appointment, that Ivy’s referral would be sent to a booking commitee (yes, you read it right) and we would then be allocated a time and date to which we would attend.

Bwa hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG, where are we living, people?

This insane life that we lead just got a little bit crazier.

Of course, Ivy is not a high priority.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong, with a two year old, on large doses of prednisone, in the next six months?!?!?!?!

So, you have to wait 6 months, and then attend on a time and day which you are allocated??? What the hell? That’s LUDICROUS tiff!

So much for the medical profession having any compassion or care for their patients - but when that patient is a little child - OMG!

HUGS to you!!!!! Hang in there

I think it’s ridiculous that you can’t make an appointment. With Ivy’s history there should be NO waiting time at all. Furthermore, I think your paed should be pushing to get an immediate examination for her. Sounds like he’s up to his old tricks again.

I’d be getting a message telling the paed to pull his head out of the cloud that it is obviously in and see if he can pull some strings if he seriously expects you to see this new person.

My guess would have been 9 months waiting time. Seriously. Takes me 8 months to see my gyno here.

That is OUTRAGEOUS! I would definitely be on to the paed to pull some strings. Seriously! What is going on with the medical system when specialists can be booked that far in advance?

Oh jeez, that sucks :( Sweet talking the paed to get some strings pulled is gonna be the way to go I think… and by sweet talking I mean constantly harassing him until he gives in just to get you to leave him alone ;)

Doesn’t anyone do triage? Is there no allocating of time based on need and/or critical-ness of care? So much for National Healthcare.

Now is the time when all good readers will request, nay demand the address of said paed to pay him a visit and kick him in his royal backside.
And then he will bow to our wishes and either
    A) get an earlier appointment with the endo for you or
    B) find another decent endo who can do handstands, make balloon animals and see Ivy before she turns 21.

I am sorry, but Ivy really should have special treatment given the history here. He should definitely be pulling a few strings to save himself calling around for lawyers.

I have heard you can get earlier appointments if the local newspapers take up your cause.

This is a terrible situation for you and Ivy. I often despair at the continuing degradation of the health system in this country.
