Lets face facts.
The paediatrician is good looking.
I’m a big girl, I can admit that without collapsing with jelly legs.
Or falling in lust.
Or swooning.
Or gushing.
Not just your average good looking. He is really good looking and he is nice to the staff at the hospital and his hands are strong.
Does anyone else like strong hands?
No? Just another of my strange little quirks, perhaps.
His personality is weighted in salesman like shmooze. (Nothing against salesmen, you know, just likening to the stereotype and all).
What I mean is, he could talk his way out of any trouble.
Any at all.
And did I mention the power dressing?
One of my friend’s reckons that is my sole purpose for keeping him as our paed. I have been dazzled by his power shirts! (Purple being one of his favourite power colours).
I can make these observations because I spend so much damn time with the man.
When he comes to visit in the hospital the nurses surround him, like bees to honey.
* and there is much swooning to be had*
There is just something about him.
Charasmatic springs to mind. (All of the above does not lessen my frustration with him).
While we were in the hospital last, nearly every single nurse, who came near us, told us how (use sing song, lovey dovey voice here) lucky we were to have him for our paed, how delicious he was and how, it was unfortunate that he was married and had a mess of kids because he could park his size 11 boots under their beds any time he wanted!
Oh. Yes. They Did.
Ewwwww.
Not how you want to be thinking about your child’s doctor.
It did get me to thinking though, about personality types and how some people just fit into a group. I think about this alot because it is one of David’s little hobbies and I kind of like people watching and trying to figure out their type too.
Here are the four basic personality types and their traits for you to look at and a couple of links to more involved descriptions.
It’s fun and a little bit wierd working out which type you fall into.
Taken from Wikipedia;
The assessments classify four aspects of behavior by testing a person’s preferences in word associations (compare with Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). DISC is an acronym for:
- Dominance - relating to control, power and assertiveness
- Influence - relating to social situations and communication
- Steadiness (submission in Marston’s time)- relating to patience, persistence, and thoughtfulness
- Conscientiousness (or caution, compliance in Marston’s time) - relating to structure and organization
These four dimensions can be grouped in a grid with D and I sharing the top row and representing extroverted aspects of the personality, and C and S below representing introverted aspects. D and S then share the left column and represent task-focused aspects, and I and C share the right column and represent social aspects. In this matrix, the vertical dimension represents a factor of “Assertive” or “Passive”, while the horizontal represents “Open” vs. “Guarded”. [3]
- Dominance: People who score high in the intensity of the ‘D’ styles factor are very active in dealing with problems and challenges, while low D scores are people who want to do more research before committing to a decision. High “D” people are described as demanding, forceful, egocentric, strong willed, driving, determined, ambitious, aggressive, and pioneering. Low D scores describe those who are conservative, low keyed, cooperative, calculating, undemanding, cautious, mild, agreeable, modest and peaceful.
- Influence: People with High I scores influence others through talking and activity and tend to be emotional. They are described as convincing, magnetic, political, enthusiastic, persuasive, warm, demonstrative, trusting, and optimistic. Those with Low I scores influence more by data and facts, and not with feelings. They are described as reflective, factual, calculating, skeptical, logical, suspicious, matter of fact, pessimistic, and critical.
- Steadiness:(Submission in Marston’s time): People with High S styles scores want a steady pace, security, and don’t like sudden change. Low S intensity scores are those who like change and variety. High S persons are calm, relaxed, patient, possessive, predictable, deliberate, stable, consistent, and tend to be unemotional and poker faced. People with Low S scores are described as restless, demonstrative, impatient, eager, or even impulsive.
- Conscientious: (Compliance in Marston’s time): Persons with High C styles adhere to rules, regulations, and structure. They like to do quality work and do it right the first time. High C people are careful, cautious, exacting, neat, systematic, diplomatic, accurate, tactful. Those with Low C scores challenge the rules and want independence and are described as self-willed, stubborn, opinionated, unsystematic, arbitrary, and careless with details

http://www.personalitypage.com/high-level.html This is a fantastic site. The labels below come from this site and give the best overall description of type.
The paed is a high ‘I’ with bits of ‘C’ and ‘D’ ‘The Inspirer’
David is is a mix of ‘C’ and ‘S’ mostly, ‘C’ and maybe some ‘D’ as well. Known as ‘The Mechanic’
Me?
Dave thinks I am firstly an ‘S’ with some ‘C’ and ‘I’ thrown in there. ‘The Nurturer’
Obviously not many people would fall into the exact categories and there are some variants but that is where the fun really begins.
So, what type are you? Go and work it out and then tell me!
Then I will give you all an Ivy update as we just spent the morning with ‘The Inspirer’ and I know you are all just dying to know where we are headed next!

Mmmmm, strong hands….
Ahem.
I think probably The Idealist fits me better than the rest.
I invite my mother to disagree with me though.
Oh, the hands. The power dressing.
I need a moment.
PS:
So accurate, i am a little freaked out….
INFP
Aha! Another Idealist!
Clicked on all those links and got thoroughly confused. Haven’t got a clue who I am. I’ll have to get back to it. Right now there’s potatoes waiting to be peeled, cooked and mashed…………
I can’t work out what I am either but I’ll pass my inability to think off on the fact that I have a cold and also a low grade fever! But I still REALLY want to know how things are going with Ivy!!
Strong hands… strong arms… *purrs* I lost track after that one.. sorry!
Strong hands and purple shirts… now what did Veronica want????
The Visionary, I think (ENTP) although there’s some traits in the others that are more me and some in the ENTP that I’d rather not be!!!
Hope things are looking up for Ivy
I refuse to participate on the grounds that I tend to incriminate myself. But I’ll take an Ivy update, please??
The Irish are immune to psychoanalysis, that’s a fact.
As for the doctor swooning thing. I blame Grey’s Anatomy.
I tend to bust those things so I won’t play with it for now, thanks! I know what I ain’t and that is enough to give me angst at the mo!
Don’t you HATE doctors like that?
My sister’s neurosurgeon had all the nurses hushing and slinking upon approach, jumping 2 foot and scurrying to do all he barked at them and could not sell water to a thirsty man. But he could look at a scan and pinpoint problems and worked magic with his hands - what a pity that B!@#$%$ is a neurosurgeon otherwise I would send you his way!
