Home again.
April 28th, 2008 by Tiff

We are finally home again after five long days of hospital and I really don’t know where to start.

Ivy’s bloods are all back within normal ranges now. Her haemoglobin is 111g/L. Her levels for the haemolysis is on the high end of normal(read only just). Her electrolytes, liver function and iron studies all normal.

She grew two lots of bacteria in her blood and for the second time in a matter of weeks was considered septic.

She started on a new medication, an immunosuppressant to try to stop the active cycle of pemphigus. At minimal dose, so far, so good.

I am thread bare, my friends. I will hopefully be in a better frame of mind tomorrow.

I have fingers crossed, toes crossed and prayer beads wrapped around my neck. Hang in there, kid. You, too, Ivy.

There’s no place like home. Here’s hoping the new drug works well and doesn’t create any side effects.

Phew.

Home at last.

If I lived close I would deliver things that are fluffy and soft. Things that offer pure comfort. I would usher everyone out and present you with a great book and a delicious meal. Then you would rest and sleep deeply. You would wake up and Ivy would be well!

Glad you are home. Fingers are crossed that the new med works!

You poor little mommy! I wish I could come sit for you — you know I would if there wasn’t an ocean in the way :( Hope it gets better really fast, Tiff!
