Home again, home again, lickety split!

Hello, my friends.

I can call you that, can’t I? After the outpouring of care and love that I have just had the honour to read, I think I can definitely call you all friend.

Firstly; Thank you.

After a few days cooped up in the hospital cage…er… I mean, room, I am a little rusty with my words but I can say thanks.

Secondly and obviously we are home.

Ivy actually had gate leave on Monday so I could take Imogen to the orthodontist and made it through the day without oxygen, so we have been discharged.

Her methaemoglobin levels are down to 6.3, which is fantastic news for the little girl.

Dapsone is the enemy and will never enter the house again. I officially hate Dapsone.

In fact, I think I always hated it.

The paed has been banned from saying anything that infers that side effects won’t happen, that they are rare.

He has definitely been banned from saying  ‘unbelievable’ and ‘one in a million’ when describing these rare side effects that seem to love my daughter.

In fact, all doctors are banned from telling me how they have never met anyone like Ivy in their careers and they are also banned from talking about journal articles and that she is an interesting case.

Ivy does rare, ok?

She just does.

And she is not a case.

She’s a little girl.

Anyway, we’re home.

Onwards and upwards, my friends, onwards and upwards.

I’m so glad you’re home and that she’s OK! And I know what you mean about all that ‘rare and unusual’ talk. We get that a lot too. I get tired of watching docs look at my little girl with that near-salivating ‘potential journal article’ look in their eyes. Bleh.

    Yay!!!.. Welcome home..

Thank goodness! So glad she’s on the mend. I don’t think you’re rusty on your words at all – “She’s not a case. She’s a little girl.” So true.

  • Widdle Shamrock (101 comments.):

    Yay, you are home.

    Grrr at the drs.

    Hope Ivy continues to recuperate.

So glad you are home and that Ivy is doing better.

We call my dad the 1% man, because whatever side effect hits a tiny percentage of the people who take that medicine, my dad will get. It’s happened a couple times.

I hope the doctor has learned something…

I’ve done the rare thing too. It sucks. Glad Ivy is home again.

Let the trumpets sound! She be home, she be home!!!

Glad you are all doing better.

I spit on Dapsone! I wave my wand to find the perfect solution for Ivy. Maybe one day…maybe one day…

Welcome home, my friend, welcome home.

So glad you are home!!! And so glad her levels went down!! Sometimes doctors truly are just inept when it comes to realizing patients are people and that phrases like “one in a million” do NOT comfort us at all.

  • jeanie (171 comments.):

Oh I am so glad she is home. Here is to the journal article when she is made well – until then, I hope all their energies are put into fixing her.

  • Veronica (652 comments.):

    Welcome home.

And of course Ivy is one in a million. We all knew that!

    So glad she is better.

  • river:

Ivy keeps on bouncing back–thought about changing her name to yo-yo? Just kidding, glad she’s home and better. The doctors should be ashamed of themselves for seeing “journal article, fame, fortune” instead of Ivy, special little girl who needs to be made well.

  • Marylin (184 comments.):

So glad you’re home safe and sound. Ivy is a little fighter! Love to you all :)

  • lceel (354 comments.):

Welcome home. So glad things are getting back to normal. And I agree with ‘river’, The Docs need to see less fame and fortune in this and remember their patient is but a charming little girl who needs kindness, care and consideration – much more than they need to be published.

  • Laura (28 comments.):

SO glad you’re home and that Ivy-girl is doing better!!!!

  • Trish (516 comments.):

Oh Tiff, so glad Ivy and you are home. I am with Veronica – Ivy is one in a million and right from the word go she has been a fighter.
Taken me ages to get into your blog on dialup from the real bonnies LOL.I can’t tell you how happy I am.
My mobile charger is at home too.No reception either.
I hate it so much when Dr’s express ‘Interest’ with unique ‘conditions’ …instead of channeling their energy into meeting the challenges their patient has to suffer with daily.
    Down with Dapsone forever.
Onwards with the strength of three dozen behind you.
    hugs
    Trish

    FREEDOM !

    well, sort of…

  • Bettina (96 comments.):

And once again, I’ve been clueless.

So glad you are home and Imy is ok and that you have banned certain sayings.

    take care hon.

  • Jayne (184 comments.):

Yay! ((hugs)) Great to hear you’re both back home and Ivy is well again :D
