Car by association.
Noah loves cars.
Loves them.
He is, quite simply, a car head.
Like his father - who can identify the type of car at night by the shape of the headlights. (Scary but true).
Noah identifies each and every person by the kind of car they drive and addresses them accordingly…
He doesn’t know the type (yet) but he has named each vehicle and has matched them to their owner, with the tender loving care that only a car head can muster.
Gran’s coming? He’ll see her in “Lola” (the Corolla).
Dad’s going to work “In Roach” (Black Ford somethingsmallandbeetlelike) and he’ll see him later with keys in hand, which are really, Noah’s keys, don’t you know.
Grandma’s up for a visit and she’s here “in Silver” (a silver Toyota Avalon) Consequently, pop also has a “Silver”. (A silver Ford Falcon).
Tracey’s car - “redtruck”
Mary’s car - “busnotmummy’s”
My car’s “name’s Bus“.
His sister’s plastic means of transport? “Pink“, of course.
The name he has coined for his very own red and yellow magnificent piece of plastic vehicular pleasure is “Rocket“.
The other day he discovered that ‘Grampa’ has a motorbike (you have to say it really fast …”merterbike” - you know, like the bike itself) and it is all we have heard about ever since.
“Grampasgotameterbikegrampasgotameterbikegrampasgotameterbike”!!!!!!
When people arrive at the house, most of the kids announce their arrival by name.
Not Noah, he is excited by the arrival of their car.
When he is talking on the phone, he doesn’t farewell the receiver with just a “see you later”, or even a “see you on such and such a day”.
No.
It’s “I’ll see you later in (insert name of car here)”.
Like Pavlov’s dog.
The thought of your car has him salivating.
Yep.
My son is a carhead.

Oh that is SO sweet
Thats scary LOL
I like the “busnotmummy’s”
I am giggling away here.. My Dave is such a car head as well.. At least now that he is a teen he has stopped asking me questions like… “If you could, would you choose the ferrari or the porsche?” or “Look! Look! that is a blah blah blah 47xj blah blah”
hehehe Fun times ahead Tiff Fun times..
My brother (David!) and I used to have competitions to see who could identify the most cars…mostly by their headlights. Occassionally I won!
Your little boy is sooooo sweet! Just gorgeous.
I have a teenage carhead. He’s 14 and knows all makes, models, types and all that. I’m so thrilled. Really. He can get his learners in 18 months.
Great.
That is so cute! I have absolutely no idea about boys! My girls identify people by what they are wearing…
The proud driver of the “busnotmummy’s” must thank Noah for the eloquent, accurate, descriptive name of her vehicle! I think it’s better than Big Silver or The Van.
LOL! My little guy would get on with Noah just famously! His favorite day of the week is tomorrow… “Gaw-druck-dee!” (Garbage truck day!)
My husband is the same way with cars…by the headlights. And he expects ME to know this stuff. *sighs* Men.
Precious Noah. My grandson was also a “carhead”. Still is, but now he’s 12 there are lots of other interests as well. I can’t for the life of me tell the makes or models apart these days since most of the designs are copies of each other. I need to see the holden logo or the ford logo etc before I know what I’m looking at.
Too cute. I’m a new reader to your blog and also a Aussie. I have over the last couple of days read your entire blog and I’ll be back just as soon as I start my own blog. In the mean time you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Seems like a lovely chap, please may I have him? thank you.
I had a great comment in my head. Unfortunately I forgot it when I saw Xbox’s comment.
Thanks Xbox.
what’s wrong with my comment? I said please AND thank you.
some folk.
TOO cute Tiff!
James and I are in construction vehicle land here - he LOVES LOVES LOVES Bob the Builder!
Boys will be boys!! *grin* I LOVE it - not sure WHAT I will do if the next one is a girl!
And now I can hear his little accent going ‘meterbike, meterbike!’ Love it!
And I can picture his little toosh in those red Wiggles jammies.
Lock him up, I’m going to eat him alive!!!
Noah - who grows up to become the person who invents the 100 mile per gallon engine that runs on greasy dishwater.
I think Caden and Noah are kindred spirits, Caden is a car nut too. He loves to walk along the street and identify all the parked cars he passes (he has to TOUCH each one as he says it). Caden also identifies which are “old” and “new” too, and of course prefers the brand new ones.
With our fender-bender last week and the van in the body shop, Caden was thrilled because we got a rental car, its “a brand new SUV, its a Chrysler Pacifica and its red”. Now he wants to trade the Toyota minivan for the “shiny new Chrysler”). If only he understood that Mommy’s still got to pay for the Toyota until 2010!
Love your sweet boy and the rest of your clan.
Hugs and kisses from Chicago!
