‘It’s long, and ranty and it’s about illness again’ or ‘Don’t get me started, well, ok, if you insist’!

We are in a cage, trapped like wild beasts. Paraded in front of an audience of uniformed people. I peer out the locked, grated window, out to the sun and the blue sky and the trees. I look to my small sleeping girl and I wish I had no need to bring her to this zoo. […]

Oh what a day!

Today, Christmas Eve, I spent in the hospital with my Ivy - girl. Her bottom blistered up again and so the dermatologists wanted to biopsy. They pulled out all the stops to find an anaesthetist, a theatre and a paediatric surgeon who would admit her. We were whizzed through admissions and admitted to the ward at […]

Weekly Winners

Brought to you by Sarcastic mom, teacher of the meaning of ‘taint’.

It’s been a busy week, so I didn’t have many photos to share. Here are some of the better ones.

A Bit of Bling.

Dawn over at Kaiser Alex.com is starting a new theme for Saturdays. Her first ask is that we design some bling to pimp our blogs and promote ‘Showin’ off on Saturdays’.
It sounded like fun and with my house clean, presents wrapped and children all sitting quietly watching Hi5, I thought I would give it a go.
So […]

When I offered him a lap dance, I didn’t mean that.

My lap top is fixed! Fried in an electrical storm, I thought I had lost my constant friend and companion for good but my wonderful husband retrieved the memory and had it repaired under warranty.
Today he is restoring said memory and I offered him a lap dance.
I meant a dance holding my laptop.
He didn’t see […]

That’s what I am…

Early this morning, I was lying on the lounge having a snuggle with Noah. He has been feeling a little left out of late. A sweet moment between mother and son.
Until Ivy came storming into the room and smacked Noah square on the head…
“Ge orff, No - No”, she screeched, trying to pull Noah from […]

In his defence…

I spoke to the paed about Ivy. Every. Single. Blood test NORMAL. Which leaves us with nothing. No diagnosis to hold on to, nothing to explain why she is so sick. Zip, nada, zilch.
I asked him why he had walked straight past us. Bagged him out, in fact.
He was on his way to the hospital […]

Finally. A little bit of Christmas spirit.

Last night, after Ivy and Noah were in bed, we did Christmas craft. I was pushed into it because today is the last day of school and we needed to make something for the teachers.
So, we baked biscuits and brownies and the kids made Rudolph pots to contain them. It was fun. Even David joined […]

They would be 33…

Two years after I was born, my twin brothers came into the world. Andrew and Kevin.
Kevin died from SIDS when he was 15 weeks old. I remember the ambulance in the driveway and the gold curtains in my parents’ room.  Andrew died from a drug overdose when he was 17. I remember feeling sad for […]
